A first step into emotional awareness
10 min read · A moment for a new perspective
Emotional awareness involves noticing an experience and finding language for it. Begin with a broad description such as pleasant, unpleasant, or uncertain, then see whether a more specific word fits.
The purpose is to understand your experience, not to judge it. Naming an emotion does not require acting on it immediately.
Reflection: Think of a recent event. What did you notice in your thoughts, attention, and behavior? What response would you choose if a similar situation happened again?
